Sasha Bailey practises in criminal law, predominantly defence work, but also specialises in confiscation both for the defence and for the prosecution. She is a grade 3 Prosecution advocate.She has established a strong and well-respected criminal practice in London and the South East covering a wide spectrum of criminal offences including violent offences, sexual assault, drugs and high level dishonesty.
She is particularly experienced in cases dealing with vulnerable witnesses and also vulnerable defendants suffering with severe mental health and learning difficulties. She is often instructed in cases concerning fitness to plead.
Post conviction Sasha is instructed in contested hearings concerning the imposition of SOPOs and other ancillary orders and regularly advises in confiscation hearings under the Proceeds of Crime Act 2002 and the previous legislation.
Sasha has been instructed as junior Counsel on numerous occasions, particularly in multi-handed fraud cases, and is valued for her thorough preparation and full knowledge of case papers. She also undertakes work in the Court of Appeal.
She also has expertise in Prison Law and has acted for clients at parole hearings and prison adjudications. Sasha is also regularly instructed in Courts Martial.
As well as being a graded prosecutor for the Crown Prosecution Service Sasha also undertakes work for local authorities– trading standards, housing (landlord and tenant), environment and planning and benefit fraud. She is also C-list Counsel on the Attorney-General’s panel.
Sasha is direct access qualified. She is happy to advise and accept instructions in this capacity.
