Robert started pupillage in chambers in October 2018. For his first six months he was supervised by Peter Clark. During this time Robert was exposed to and gained experience of a wide range of cases including attempted murder, serious drug offences, and serious sexual offences.
In his second six-months, Robert was supervised by Avirup Chaudhuri. Robert quickly gained experience both defending and prosecuting in the Magistrates’ Court, Youth Court, Crown Court, and the Court of Appeal.
Before pupillage, Robert worked for 2.5 years as a paralegal in the highly rated criminal defence team at T V Edwards in Whitechapel, after a short spell as a paralegal in the corporate and financial crime team at Hickman & Rose Solicitors.
During his time at T V Edwards, Robert was accredited as a police station representative, and as such has significant experience of representing clients in the police station for a wide range of offences. He has prepared cases from pre-charge advice to appeals to the Divisional Court by way of case stated, and to the Court of Appeal (Criminal Division).
Robert also has experience of litigating civil injunctions under the Antisocial Behaviour Crime and Policing Act 2014, Part 1 (Anti-social behaviour injunctions) at all stages from application to appeal.
