R v G and Others – 2019

Avirup Chaudhuri instructed as leading junior in case concerning allegations of conspiring to convert stolen plant machinery and laundering the (extensive) profits. Acquitted

R v W – 2019

Neil Fitzgibbon instructed in a significant Class A drugs conspiracy where the accused was videod handing over a quantity of cocaine, his defence was lack of knowledge and was acquitted.

R v C – 2019

Liam Edwards was led by Greg Unwin in a multi-handed case concerning an allegation of conspiracy to transfer criminal property. Case involved a four-year pre-charge investigation and over 80,000 pages of served evidence. Defendant acquitted after a six-week trial.

R v S (Northampton Crown Court) – 2019

Tom Worden was instructed in a successful submission of no case to answer on one count of attempted burglary and one of burglary. The jury unanimously found S not guilty on another count of burglary.

R v Philo-Steele – 2019

Peter Clark instructed as leading defence cousnel and Rebecca Lee as led junior in 10-week trial of multi-victim child sexual abuse over 15 years by a male ‘nanny’: Included pre-recorded video cross-examination of 4 children

R v McAleer – 2019

Warwick Aleeson instructed as led junior to defend in an attempted Murder – instructed after initial conviction to appeal conviction on grounds of jury irregularity. Prosecution case that client deliberately pushed his girlfriend off 4th floor balcony attempting to kill her.  Warwick successfully represented client before Court of Appeal overturning his conviction and then client acquitted at retrial.

R v O – 2019

Liam Edwards was led by Andrew Fitch-Holland in a complex child neglect case involving 13 children and 31 separate allegations of neglecting a child. Case involved the late service of 10,000 pages of social service records during the trial. Defendant was acquitted of 8 of the 13 offences alleged against him. Appeal pending.

R v A – 2019

Andrew Newton instucted as leading counsel in conspiracy to murder trial involving allegations of tracking a vehicle and occupants with subsequent shooting of driver and passenger. Secured acquittal on count of conspiracy to murder.

R v L (Lewes Crown Court) – 2018-19

 Tom Worden successfully defended his client who was arrested in possession of numerous wraps of cocaine and ketamine, a ‘burner’ phone with outgoing drug dealing messages and a knife. Found not guilty of possession with intent to supply Class A and Class B drugs after trial.

R v AH – 2019

Alfred Underwood was instructed in a case where his client was charged with ABH. Defence accepted complainant had been assaulted and received serious injuries but maintained that the complainant was falsely and maliciously implicating AH. One other eyewitness identified the defendant as one of the attackers. AH was acquitted by a jury after less than fifteen minutes of deliberation.
